Exxus Explains Voltages: The Highs and Lows

The letter “V” can mean many different things - V for Vendetta, V for Victor, or in our case V for Voltage. But what exactly is voltage and how does it affect the day to day realities of using my vaporizer?
Well keep reading, because in this Exxus Vape exclusive we are going to provide you a simple guide on what voltage stands for and what it means for your clouds. This way when you see the measurement on a vaporizer, you know exactly what it offers you and your sessions.
Not only that, but we are going to also let you know about some of our vapes that have ultimate voltage control along the way, so you can start putting your knowledge to work!
What Is Voltage In Simple Terms?
So what exactly does voltage mean? Well in simple terms, voltage is a measurement of the amount of pressure that it takes to move charged electrons between two points. While that may not seem all that simple, it essentially equates to a reading of how much power / heat is able to be directed at your materials.
The “V” that you see in vaporizing settings stands for “volts”, the unit of measurement derived from voltages. Commonly you will see vaporizers with a couple of different voltage options, while some will even offer you a higher degree of customization via + - buttons for incremental adjustments.
How Does Voltage Affect My Vaping?
Now all that science may be nice in theory, how does all of this voltage mumbo jumbo mean for you on a practical level? Since we now know that V stands for Volts, we know that the higher the voltage, the more electricity is going to be able to flow.
This in turn means that when you up your volts, you are upping the temperature which your materials (dry herbs, concentrates, oils) are exposed to, leading to wildly different experiences.
Your voltage level can affect everything including the taste, consistency, and potency of your vapor - which is why having a handle on what the various levels offer is so important to getting the most out of your materials.
Low Voltages
Starting out slow, we have the lower voltage settings that hover around 2 to 3 volts. This level of power is great for starting off, as the lower amount of electricity provides you with smoother, less harsh vapor clouds.
Whether you are just waking up or simply aren’t a fan of fiery clouds, sticking to your lower voltage range is going to provide you with the most satisfaction. Lower voltages are also great if you are just starting out with a friend and want to let them enjoy your cartridge, without having them cough too much.
Thanks to the lower temperatures produced by low voltages, the clouds you produce will also receive a noticeable flavor boost. If you are really looking to get a taste for your herbs or wax, then this is the best mode for you. Take for example our Adapt Cartridge Vaporizer, which has a low end voltage of just 2.0v to provide a tasty feast of the senses.
High Voltages
Jumping into the deep end, there is the wide world of high voltages to satisfy all of your wildest cloud cravings with increased volume and potency. These end up coming in anywhere above 3.8v, with numbers going well into 4v on some of our devices like our Snap DLX 510 Voltage Battery Vaporizer, with its top setting of a whopping 4.2v!
Due to the surge of power heating more of your materials, your vapor clouds are going to be much larger in size. This is for all of the cloud chasers and hot boxers out there, looking to put some serious haze in the air or to blow some epic vapor tricks.
In conjunction with the larger cloud, you are also going to get much higher potency due to the higher voltage unlocking the full spectrum of power that your materials offer. High voltages essentially take off the guard rails and give you the most raw, mind blowing version of your vaporizer.
Medium Voltages
While traditionally this paragraph would be well, smack dab in the middle. We thought that once you understood the two polar opposites of high and low voltages, you would be better able to appreciate the subtle mix that medium options present.
Should you be in the mood for a flavorful experience with an extra bit of bite, then medium voltages are going to be your best friend! With enough power to give your clouds more potency, but not enough to burn away rich flavor profiles, medium voltages are some of the most commonly used settings.
On our Claro Cartridge Vaporizer which has a voltage range from 1.8 - 4.2v, you’ll find a perfect medium right at 3.0v. This will provide you with the perfect mixture of effects, resulting in a well rounded cloud suited for any and all situations.
